Description
Elaine Leader draws upon a number of sources in the construction of her prints including field guides, mapping, botanical and architectural illustration to investigate how the self orientates and navigates a world in constant flux. Her work addresses themes of care, nurture and dependency. Leader utilises a wide variety of printmaking techniques in the construction of her images, layering multiple plates with spit bite, hardground, aquatint and roll ups. Her process involves lengthy proofing to arrive at a subtle balanced tonal range.
